The 2010 Mazda MX-5 Miyako is specially designed to celebrate 20th Anniversary of the world’s best-selling roadster. The name ‘Miyako’ is taken from one of the most beautiful places in Miyako-jima Japan. It is the first special edition MX-5 that will be based on both the soft-top and roadster coupe variants. This special edition will be limited to only 500 units and will go on sale in July at a price of £18,385 for the convertible model and £20,885 for the roadster coupe version with the world’s fastest folding powered roof (up or down in 12 seconds).
The MX-5 Miyako includes larger 17-inch alloy wheels, standard fog lamps, a front suspension strut brace (for improved steering response), and and free metallic paint (Aluminium Silver or Velocity Red Mica). Interior upgrades include Medici premium perforated black leather upholstery with a red underlay and stitching, special badging, floor mats and automatic climate control air-conditioning.
The less powerful four-cylinder 1.8i 126ps Miyako soft-top accelerates to 62mph in 9.9 seconds, while powerful 2.0 liter has 160ps catapults the Miyako roadster coupe to 100kph in 7.9 seconds. The fuel consumption is just grate for a sports car MX5 soft-top delivers 40.4mpg and the coupe 38.2mpg. Both Miyako models will available standard equipment features with remote central locking, a leather steering wheel with audio controls, an MP3 compatible audio system with six speakers and auxiliary (AUX) jack input, as well as heated electric mirrors and electric front windows, a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser. In addition, Limited Slip Differential (LSD), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS) are included on the 2.0i.
